These worksheets are examples of some modified assignments for one of my U.S. History students. This format was recommended to me by the special education teacher who worked closely with this student. While we originally were just using them for vocabulary from the unit, I evolved it to offer the student a new way to connect with the content. I would find some films that were set in the period we were studying and the student would use the organizer to take notes.

This student was a joy to work with, and one thing they are very knowledgeable about and could have great conversations about is movies. This assignment not only made the content more accessible to my student, but it also made it more enjoyable to learn. While it can be challenging to differentiate for every single student, this simple graphic organizer is proof that we can easily create systems to provide UDL and maximize the offerings we provide to our students in their quest for learning.
